Sonic State caught up with Korg Berlin’s Lukas Hartmann, who was demonstrating the unique electronically controlled acoustic instrument.
The Korg Acoustic Synthesis_phase8 is an electronically controlled acoustic instrument, that is part melodic synthesizer, part drum machine. At the heart of the instrument are several individual resonators that you can control electronically or by physically touching them.
The Acoustic Synthesis_phase8 is being positioned as a product prototype. Korg plans to officially introduced the instrument next year.
At Superbooth 2024, held May 16-18 in Berlin, Tiptop Audio introduced the Triax 8 polyphonic Eurorack oscillator, the latest in its ART line of polyphonic Eurorack modules.
ART modules are Eurorack-compatible modules that use Eurorack signal levels for oscillator audio and gate/cv controls, standard power connectors, and are designed to blend into any Eurorack system. But they also include ‘Polytip’ connectors, which lets you patch them polyphonically with other ART-compatible modules.
In this video, Tiptop Audio’s Gur Milstein shares an update on the ART lineup. Milstein says that the Vortex 6, Octopass Poly Filter, Octostages Poly Envelope and Octogain are expected to start shipping shortly.
He also introduces the Triax8, a fully analog polyphonic oscillator, featuring 16 analog oscillators designed by pioneering synth designer Dave Rossum.
Details on the Triax8 are still to come at the Tiptop Audio website.
At Superbooth 2024, synth guru Nick Batt caught up with Ableton Push co-developer Jesse Terry, who demonstrated how he’s integrating the controller with his modular synthesizer:
“Jesse’s setup featured a Trinity module by Modbap for drums, while showcasing the versatility of the* FH2 for CV generation and the *Expert Sleepers ES3 and ES6 for interfacing with modular gear.
The integration of multiple voices, effects, and instruments highlighted the flexibility and power of combining the PUSH with modular synths.”
Ableton introduced Push 3 about this time last year. The Push 3 has features that let it be used as a powerful ‘modular brain’, including standalone operation, CV/Gate outputs, expressive MPE pads and battery operation.
