Developer Brian Clevinger, (the creator of both Native Instruments Absynth & Rhizomatic Plasmonic), shared this video, demonstrating how to create and control an expressive MPE pad in Plasmonic with the Expressive E Osmose.
Starting with a basic saw + LPF patch, Clevinger shows how to use MPE to control a number of parameters to build a sound with detailed and organic expression.
Brian Clevinger says that Plasmonic & the Osmose “are a perfect match”.
For those that are interested in exploring beyond the Osmose’s built-in sound engine, watch the video and share your thoughts on the Plasmonic + Osmose combination in the comments!
Developer Cem Olcay has introduced Binarhythmic, a binary based MIDI sequencer for iOS and M1 Macs.
Binarhythmic generates rhythmic sequences based on binary arithmetic. Each bit in the binary number represents a MIDI gate with a note, note length, velocity and MIDI channel options.
You can create different rhythmic variations with gate type, multiplier and logic operations. And, with the randomizer, you can randomize the notes, gate length and velocity.
Binarhythmic runs as standalone app, as well as AUv3 MIDI Plugin. You can create AU presets and use AU parameters of the AUv3 plugin. You can control or even automate every AU parameter of Binarhythmic.
You can modulate the multiplier parameter with PatternBud. You can also control the key and scale with BrainBud.
*Note: Binarhythmic is a MIDI app and does not produce any sound on its own so, you need to route its MIDI output to an audio app. For using the AUv3 plugin, you need an AUv3 host app such as AUM, Cubasis, Nanostudio, Loopy Pro etc.
Behringer today announced that the Edge – their knockoff of the Moog DFAM drum synth – is now shipping, with a retail price of $199.
The company had announced in March that the Edge was ‘ready to ship’. It is not clear why it takes Behringer two and half months to go from ‘ready to ship’ to ‘shipping’, but it may be that they want to ship enough stock to retailers to meet initial demand.
Features:
Analog semi-modular percussion synthesizer
Analog signal path
Dual VCOs with pulse and triangle waves, oscillator sync and FM
Dual 8-step sequencer with pitch and velocity controls
White/pink noise source and external input
Multi-mode 24 dB resonant ladder filter with low and high-pass plus cutoff modulation by noise
3 separate decay envelopes for pitch, filter cutoff and amplitude for detailed control
Sequencer speed with up to 10,000 BPM allows for audio range waveform generation
Semi-modular design with default routings requires no patching for immediate performance
15 x 10 I/O matrix
44 controls give you direct and real-time access to important parameters
Multiple clocking sources including MIDI/USB for synchronization with other equipment
Time division control featuring 8 different rates
MIDI support with MIDI channel and Voice Priority selection
Behringer says the Edge is ‘in stock and immediately shipping’. Behringer Edge is now available .
