No Talk Demo: 50 Patches For Behringer Edge

Sound designer Anton Anru shared this video demo of Modular Grooves, a collection of 50 patches + patterns for the Behringer Edge synthesizer.

The collection features 17 Percs/Drums, 16 Basses, 17 Synths. Anru says that the collection is “dedicated to the modular vibe”. In addition to offering a preview of the sound library, the video showcases the sonic range of the Behringer Edge.

*Note: The soundset is presented in PDF format, because the Behringer Edge does not have presets. Each page contains notes that explain how the patch works, what parameters are worth tweaking during playback, and how to develop the timbre during a performance.

Ksoloti Gills New Open Source DIY Virtual Modular Synthesizer

 

Ksoloti is an environment for generating and processing digital audio. It can be a programmable virtual modular synthesizer, polysynth, drone box, sequencer, chord generator, multi effect, sample player, looper, granular sampler, MIDI generator/processor, CV or trigger generator, anything in between, and more.

The Ksoloti Core is a rework of the discontinued Axoloti Core board. Ksoloti aims for maximum compatibility with the original Axoloti, with some layout changes and added features.

Using the Patcher software on your computer, you can create your own sound patches by placing and connecting sound objects, or explore patches other users shared. You can edit any existing patches and even objects, or write entirely new ones from scratch.

When you are satisfied with your patch, upload it to the Ksoloti Core’s internal memory, or save a collection of patches on SD card.

The Unique Synths Of Dune 2 To Be Featured At ContinuuCon 2024


Organizers of ContinuuCon 2024, the sixth international Haken Continuum conference, have announced that the event will feature a panel discussion focusing on some of the unique synths featured on Hans Zimmer’s Dune 2 soundtrack.

The event is scheduled for April 26–28 in the Pittsburgh suburb of Carnegie, Pennsylvania. Continuum and Osmose players and interested musicians can look forward to a reception on the opening night and two full days of presentations, workshops, and demonstrations by some of the world’s foremost authorities on the Haken Continuum and EaganMatrix.

Zimmer hired ContinuuCon organizers and EaganMatrix developers Edmund Eagan and Christophe Duquesne to design and perform sounds for the soundtrack, along with Expressive E’s Guillaume Bonneau. At ContinuuCon, Eagan and Duquesne will play audio examples from the film and reveal programming techniques used on the Dune: Part Two soundtrack.

  • Duquesne will demonstrate his latest experiments in additive resynthesis.
  • Electronic musician and ContinuuCon organizer Russ Hoffman will discuss Chick Corea’s treatise on best practices for playing music in an ensemble.
  • Thereminist and Continuum expert Rob Schwimmer will discuss Continuum performance technique.
  • Canadian composer Tony K.T. Leung will demonstrate an expressive controller of his own design that allows a string player to control eight dimensions of the EaganMatrix using familiar performance gestures.
  • Engineer Mark Smart will explain how to control a 3-dimensional laser show using the Haken Continuum and Native Instruments’ Reaktor software.
  • Paul Dempsey will present the HC-One plug-in, which allows VCV Modular software to interface with EaganMatrix hardware devices.
  • David Gerard Matthews will discuss and demonstrate the Ondes Martenot, a precursor to the Continuum.
