Novation Circuit Rhythm Version 2.0 Update adds Beat Match, Fixed Length Recording and Grid FX

Novation’s Circuit Rhythm groovebox released earlier last year, puts its focus squarely on sample-based beatmaking, Thanks to a new firmware update (v2), it now promises to be a more expressive platform than ever before.

The new firmware adds several new features, starting with Beat Match. This enables Circuit Rhythm users to speed up or slow down samples at will, so drum breaks can be brought perfectly in time with their session.

Next, Fixed Length Recording – making it easy to record samples in time with the current project. You can toggle between lengths of eight, 16, 32 or 64 steps.Elsewhere, the built-in Grid FX are now editable, while patterns and muted track states can now be stored as part of Scenes for quick arrangement building.

New in Circuit Rhythm 2.0:

  • With the new Beat Match feature, Circuit Rhythm owners can speed their samples up or down to get drum breaks perfectly in time with their session.
  • Fixed Length Recording lets users record samples in perfect time with their current project.
  • A new toggle in the Sample Record View lets creators choose between a fixed length sample recording of 8, 16, 32, or 64 steps.
  • You can now create dynamic sonic performances and take control of grid FX parameters directly from Circuit Rhythm using editable Grid FX.
  • Patterns and muted track states can be saved to Scenes, to quickly build an arrangement.

Circuit Rhythm firmware 2.0 is available now as a free update. Find out more and download on the Novation website.

Improvised Ambient Music for Voice and Novation Summit

This video captures a short improvised ambient set, by husband and wife duo Tefty & Meems.

The performance features voice and Novation Summit. Here’s what Tefty & Meems shared about the technical details:

“Everything was recorded into Ableton Live with no click. Additionally, we added Luftrum field recordings into the mix afterwards for some extra ambience. The vocals and field recordings had some extra spatial effects added from Glitchmachines Fracture and Hysteresis plugins.”
