Soundtrack Loops introduces C64 8-Bit Adventure Loops of the ‘Commodordian’

Jason Donnelly of Soundtrack Loops let us know about their latest sound library, C64 8 Bit Adventure, which features sounds of the Commodordian.

The Commodordian is a unique 8-bit Commodore 64 accordion:

What they say about the sound library:

“Here we have C64 8-Bit Adventure, a collection of loops, one shots and more, all generated by a bespoke musical instrument that Linus has dubbed the Commodordian—an ‘accordion’ comprising two C64 computers that bookend a real, functional bellows system, constructed of an origami-like assembly of 5.25” paper floppy disc casings!

This instrument sets C64 8-Bit Adventure apart—the bellows is actually an electro-mechanical modulator that changes the sound as it’s being played.

So here, in a package containing 82 loops (distributed across 10 different theme kits), 168 delightful one shots, 9 Kontakt .nki files, and an Ableton Drum Rack, we have the sound of the Commodordian—an one-off, genius-grade, mad scientist-level instrument that captures the classic sounds of the Commodore 64 computer in all its 8-bit glory, and with added organic modulations that go far beyond typical circuit bending exercises, and into some truly esoteric and fun places.”

C64 8 Bit Adventure is available now for $25

Shakmat Modular introduces 2 New Modules: Banshee Reach & Jeweler Cast

Shakmat Modular has introduced two new modules for Eurorack modular systems: Banshee Reach & Jeweler Cast.

Banshee Reach:
The module’s heart is based on a triangle core VCO, with thru-zero frequency/phase modulation capabilities. In addition to delivering independently the typical analog waveforms, the Banshee Reach has a vari output, combining a continuously variable waveform, crossfading with a sub-octave generator.

The analog core has been completed with a digital control for frequency locking and octave transposition, which helps make the Banshee Reach performance-oriented. Other features include LFO mode, hard or soft sync, digital noise modulation and PWM.

Jeweler Cast:
The Jeweler Cast melts, bends, and chisels all types of signals, audio, or CV. Composed of two independent sections, the Mix, and the Shaper, the Jeweler Cast combines a ring modula-tor, a crossfader, a wavefolder and a distortion.

This compact, fully analog module can manipulate basic waveforms and complex signals in a wide variety of ways.

Shakmat says that at Superbooth 2023, they will be showing both of these modules, plus some other new modules that they have in the works.

Both modules are available now, with the following pricing:
Banshee Reach – €290
Jeweler Cast – €185

Vocal Tune Studio for iOS brings Vocal Editing to your iPad, iPhone

eXtream Software Development, a company that makes audio apps for Android and iOS, has introduced Vocal Tune Studio for iOS, a vocal pitch and time editor.

With Vocal Tune Studio, pitch and time correction of vocal recordings is now possible on your iPhone or iPad. You can use it as an Audio Unit effect inside your favorite DAW or in standalone mode.

The app enables you adjust pitch tuning to do subtle correction or create popular auto-tune effects. In addition to pitch correction, notes can be corrected for timing and volume level as well.

Each individual note can be adjusted for retune time, retune amount, volume and the amount of formant correction. Artificial vibrato can be added and adjusted to taste using the vibrato depth and rate controls. Additionally, you can adjust the time when the vibrato kicks in and the time in which it reaches the full vibrato depth, to create a natural sounding vibrato.

Vocal Tune Studio can detect the key and scale of a vocal recording automatically or a key and scale can be manually chosen.
