Keith McMillen Instruments has introduced a new version of their QuNexus MPE controller that adds a three-track arpeggiator and step sequencer.
In addition to the new firmware, which is a complete overhaul in terms of functionality, the expressive controller maker has also updated the aesthetics and enclosure durability.
The new features will also be available to existing QuNexus owners as a firmware upgrade in October.
The new QuNexus RED is a 25-key MPE keyboard controller and three track Arpeggiator/Step Sequencer with USB, MIDI, and CV outputs. The keys detect velocity, polyphonic aftertouch, and per-key tilt. QuNexus RED also features a new ABS-Polycarbonate finish.
They shared two demo videos to introduce the new features. In the first video, above, the QuNexus RED is used to sequence a modular synthesizer.
In the video below, the QuNexus RED is used as an arpeggiator to control Synapse Obsession.

Akai Professional has introduced MPC Studio, a new music production controller + DAW combo for Mac & Windows.
MIDI controller meets desktop DAW to give you a pad-based workflow
The new MPC Studio, an affordable production package “for the modern music creator”. This comprises both a controller and the MPC2 DAW, which can also run as a plugin.
MPC Studio Controller– the MPC Studio hardware is built around 16-full size pressure- and velocity-sensitive pads. These have RGB backlights and support aftertouch.
In addition, there is also an assignable touch strip that can be used to add extra expression to your performances, while visual feedback is offered by the full-color LCD display. This is designed to help you spend more time looking at the controller and less at the software, and is complemented by transport controls and locate buttons.
MPC2 Software- When used with the software, the MPC2 promises all the features that have made the MPC range popular: sampling; – groove, swing and quantize; – MIDI sequencing and arranging. Additionally, you get eight built-in plugin instrument engines, including AIR’s Hype, Mellotron and Solina and WayOutWare’s Odyssey.
Effects are covered by AIR’s Vocal Insert Effects Plugin Suite, Half Speed, Stutter and Granulator.
