Full Bucket Music releases another free plugin based on a Korg keyboard you probably have not heard of.
It is Lambda ES-50 Polyphonic Ensemble, anyone?
Full Bucket Music is continuing its run of lesser-known Korg synth emulations with the release of Ny. It is a reboot of the Lambda ES-50, a fully 48-Key Polyphonic Ensemble from 1979, a preset machine that offered two categories of sounds.
First up, there were the Percussive tones – Electric piano, Clavi, Piano and Harmonics – and Ensemble sounds covered brass, organ, choir and string patches- Strings I, Strings II.
Ny promises to emulate the original hardware pretty closely, but ups the polyphony from 48 to 64 voices. You also get an emulation of the original analogue chorus effect.

In 2021, Soonth developed Blocks – a very unique free modular Synthesizer plugin.
Soonth shared this short preview of Blocks for Mac + Windows, a free application that offers “a simple approach to synthesis using a modular grid system.”
The developer has released update 0.04 with new features. The development progressed in very small steps. It introduces a new modulator menu on the right giving you an overview of all active modulations, including envelopes, LFOs, and more.
Here’s how it works:
Blocks: Sound moves downwards. You can place blocks, shuffle them around, or extend effects across columns with ease.
Modulators: To the right side, you’ll find modulators like LFOs and envelopes.
Tabs: Decide which columns are audible when a note plays.
Synful Orchestra – a virtual instrument plugin that simulates symphonic wind and string instruments, using additive synthesis and the company’s Reconstructive Phrase Modeling (RPM) technology – is now available as a free download.
Synful Orchestra is different from traditional sample libraries because it emphasizes realistic transitions between notes, and independent control of vibrato, bow and breath noise, and other aspects of musical expression. Synful Orchestra also builds instrumental string and wind sections in a natural way by combining individual instruments positioned on a virtual stage. To accomplish all of this Synful Orchestra stores audio in additive synthesis plus noise format. This allows for flexible morphing of the sound and even supports “imaginary instruments” by transforming natural sounds.
