Sound designer Anton Anru has introduced Techno Generator, a collection of 50 patches for the analog semi-modular synthesizer Behringer Edge.
The no-talking demo is not just a free demo of Anru’s patch library, but a comprehensive introduction to the sound design possibilities of the Edge.
What Anru say about the patch library:
“Though the title includes «Techno», the patches may be used in a wide variety of genres. Techno is just the first thing comes in my mind when I tweak and listen to EDGE. Analog phatness, experimental sounds, huge basses, vivid leads, freaky sequences, electronic drums, generative-fx patches work nicely not only in techno, they will decorate any track where a decent sound design is welcome.
The soundset is presented in PDF format. Each page contains notes that explain how the patch works, what parameters are worth tweaking during playback, and how to develop the timbre during a performance. If you make all the settings consciously and try the things mentioned in the notes, you will learn a lot about the synth and discover its true depth.”

Behringer today announced that the Edge – their knockoff of the Moog DFAM drum synth – is now shipping, with a retail price of $199.
The company had announced in March that the Edge was ‘ready to ship’. It is not clear why it takes Behringer two and half months to go from ‘ready to ship’ to ‘shipping’, but it may be that they want to ship enough stock to retailers to meet initial demand.
Features:
Analog semi-modular percussion synthesizer
Analog signal path
Dual VCOs with pulse and triangle waves, oscillator sync and FM
Dual 8-step sequencer with pitch and velocity controls
White/pink noise source and external input
Multi-mode 24 dB resonant ladder filter with low and high-pass plus cutoff modulation by noise
3 separate decay envelopes for pitch, filter cutoff and amplitude for detailed control
Sequencer speed with up to 10,000 BPM allows for audio range waveform generation
Semi-modular design with default routings requires no patching for immediate performance
15 x 10 I/O matrix
44 controls give you direct and real-time access to important parameters
Multiple clocking sources including MIDI/USB for synchronization with other equipment
Time division control featuring 8 different rates
MIDI support with MIDI channel and Voice Priority selection
Behringer says the Edge is ‘in stock and immediately shipping’. Behringer Edge is now available .
Behringer has announced that the Edge – a hot pink knockoff of the Moog DFAM semi-modular drum synth – is now “in production and ready to ship.”
The Behringer Edge follows the precedent of their Crave synth, recreating a popular Moog Eurorack format synth as an inexpensive desktop module.
Edge is a semi-modular percussion synth. Like its inspiration, it features dual VCO’s with pulse and triangle waves, oscillator sync and FM, to let you create a variety of percussive sounds.
In addition, it clones the DFAM’s dual-row 8-step sequencer, so you can control two aspects of the drum synth’s voice on each step.
Details are to come, but Behringer says that the Edge is ready to ship and they’ve previously said that they are targeting a $219 price.
