Sequential Skip Take 5 Gets Unofficial Patch Editor

Voidcontrol MIDI has introduced an unofficial patch editor for the Sequential Take 5 synthesizer.

The Sequential Take 5 editor offers DAW automation, 16-slot modulation matrix, 64-step polyphonic sequencer, patch library with single-file or full-bank patch import/export, on-screen keyboard, and resizable UI.

  • Full parameter control: Every Take 5 front-panel control on screen, grouped like the hardware, with no side-scrolling.
  • Fine adjustment: Hold Shift while dragging any knob for precise control.
  • Auto sync: Editor and hardware stay in step. Move a control in the editor and the synth responds. Change programs on the Take 5 and the editor follows.
  • Flexible MIDI setup: The editor finds your Take 5 automatically, over USB or 5-pin DIN.
  • Full DAW automation: Every sound parameter is an automatable plugin parameter. Draw filter sweeps, automate envelope and LFO settings, record knob moves.
  • Mod matrix at a glance: All 16 slots on one screen, with 20 sources and 56 destinations. Switch any routing on or off with a single click. A dot on each control shows when a modulator is pointing at it.
  • Polyphonic sequencer: A 64-step grid with a row per voice and a velocity lane. Record in step or free mode, from your keyboard or the on-screen keys, then draw notes, drag ties, or transpose. Run it on its own or synced to your DAW.
  • On-screen keyboard: Pitch and mod wheels, transpose, low split, and a live preview of your sequence. Pick a scale and its notes are highlighted on the keys.
  • Collapsible drawer: The MOD, SEQ, and KEYS tabs sit in a drawer that collapses to a thin strip when you only need the panel. The editor remembers how you left it.
  • Program library: Every User and Factory slot, with search, favorites, and categories. Import and export SysEx at program, bank, or full-library scope.
  • A/B snapshots with morph: Capture two sounds, even from different programs, and morph between them with a slider you can automate in your DAW. Snapshots are saved with your project. Over 5-pin DIN, the morph may step rather than glide.
  • Init and Randomize: A clean starting point, or Shift-click any program’s star in the Library to make it your custom INIT. RND creates a playable random sound while leaving your sequence, modulation routings, and settings alone.
  • Resizable UI: 50% to 300%.

The Take 5 Editor is available now for $35 USD.
