Teenage Engineering OP–XY 1.2.0 Firmware Updates Gets Drumline & More

Teenage Engineering has just announced OP-XY OS 1.2.0 update, its biggest firmware update since its launch.

The firmware 1.2.0 update adds a new drum synthesizer called drumline, multichannel audio over USB–C, a new dynamic filter, a detune parameter, expanded envelope controls and more.

Drumline is a new drum synthesizer featuring ten different drum models, covering everything from kicks, snares, and hi-hats to congas, shakers, and claps. each drum model comes with four dedicated parameters, along with additional sub-parameters, giving you deep sound design controls.

Drumline comes with a new envelope, designed for more expressive drum programming and performance. adjust attack and length, introduce rhythmic variations with the funk parameter, or add randomization to every sound on every hit. use it to bring more movement and variation to your drum patterns.

The new dynamic filter combines a high-pass and low-pass filter with compression and drive. use it with drumline to shape transients, add punch and create heavier drum sounds, or apply it to other sound engines to add depth and character.

OS 1.2.0 introduces three USB audio output modes: a standard two-channel stereo output, a customizable two-channel output for compatibility with devices that require stereo audio, and a fully customizable eight-channel output.

The eight-channel mode includes four preset routings and four user-programmable routings, allowing you to send individual instrument and auxiliary tracks over USB–C. making it easier to record separate stems directly into your DAW for further mixing and production, and offering more flexibility for external routing when performing live with OP–XY.

A new detune parameter has been added to the preset settings, giving you even finer control of the synth engines in OP–XY. use it to introduce subtle pitch variations, and create patches with a more analog character.
