The video captures a live performance by UK-based synthesist Vykaar Tones.
The performance leans heavily into the classic Berlin School style, especially the ’70s music of Tangerine Dream.
The over-the-shoulder viewpoint offers a good view of the performance, so you can see how the old-school sounds are created using mixture of vintage and modern gear.
Behringer drops prices on many of its synths and Eurorack modules, with prices cut as much as 50%.
The price cuts include most of their ‘knockoff’ style modules and makes their pricing more aggressive than ever, including both keyboards like the Behringer MonoPoly; synth modules like the Behringer Solina String Ensemble; standalone synths like the Behringer Crave; and their Euro-format copies of classic Moog, ARP & Roland synth modules.
In many cases, Behringer’s current prices are now cheaper than used prices for their gears.
Price drops include:
Behringer MS-5 – price cut $80
Behringer Pro-800 – price cut $60
Behringer Poly-D – price cut $30
Behringer 2600 – price cut $80
Behringer 2600 Limited Edition – price cut $150
Behringer D – price cut $70
Behringer Brains – price cut $70
Behringer 904B Voltage Controller High Pass Filter – price cut $50
You can see the new pricing in place at Sweetwater. Though some of the price cuts are showing up at Amazon, but not all yet.
Nazaray has launched a Kickstarter project to fund the development of Sound Blocks, a graphical music composition app for Mac and Windows.
Here’s what they say about it:
“Place blocks of sound anywhere on the grid, connect them together and play!
It’s a beautifully animated experience that really brings out the visual character of sounds — (kind of like synesthesia).
You can add ‘Control Blocks’ to your sequence that act as modifiers for speed, time, randomization and more. Using these tools, you can create intricate musical machines that loop in interesting ways.
It’s a remarkably simple new workflow that removes the obstacles and steep learning curves commonly associated with conventional music production software — and by the nature of its distinct design, lets you do things that you might never think doing of with other music apps.”
Development of the app is being funded via a Kickstarter campaign. It’s available to project backers starting at $15.
