AudioThing Noises Delivers A “Rainbow Of Sound”

New plugin is a “creative texture instrument”

AudioThing, in collaboration with synthesist Hainbach, has introduced a new audio plugin that offers a “twisted rainbow of sound”.

Noises is the fourth plugin they have developed with German composer Hainbach. It is designed to be fast and inspiring to use, with a big dial at its center inviting you to search for sounds and a sequencer to make them music. Hainbach crafted hundreds of recordings of rare vintage measurement and tape equipment, analog synths, strange field recordings, electro-acoustic and magnetic field experiments, and more in his lab to create this creative noise instrument.

Noises is available now for Mac & Windows for $45 normally $69 .

GForce Software shares New Documentary On Tom Oberheim

GForce Software honours Tom Oberheim with a new documentary and is available for free on the GForce Software YouTube channel. You can watch the video above, this documentary begins by covering Tom’s involvement in the emerging electronic music industry of the 1960s, then charts his achievements through to the present day. His career has seen him produce countless classic synths, including the OB-X and OB-Xa, DSX, DMX, OB-6, Xpander and Matrix 12.

And at 85, Tom Oberheim is still at it. His recent collaboration with Dave Smith, the Sequential OB-6, is considered by many to be a modern classic.

GForce previously released the OB-E, a plugin emulation of Oberheim’s classic 8-Voice, which put eight of the company’s SEMs (Synthesizer Expander Module) into a single instrument.

Commenting on the release of the documentary, Tom Oberheim said: “I congratulate the folks at GForce for all the effort they put forth to create the Bright Sparks video concerned with my history. What a great way to tell the Oberheim fans and family what I have been doing all these eight-plus decades, in and out of the music business!”

Bright Sparks producer and GForce co-founder Dave Spiers added: “Tom is such an important part of electronic music history, and given the instrumental version of I Monster’s Bright Sparks album features a bonus track dedicated to him, his lack of inclusion in the original documentary always felt like a major omission. I’ve always wanted Bright Sparks to be an ever-evolving project, so I’m thrilled to document his fascinating story with a dedicated chapter.”

Presteign Sound Labs intros Free Synth For Reason Based On Mutable Instruments Plaits Eurorack Module

Presteign Sound Labs has introduced Macro, a free Rack Instrument for Reason, based on Mutable Instruments Plaits Eurorack module.

Macro is designed to be two things at once: a self-contained synthesizer with a unique sonic palette that you can use immediately, and a module that makes that palette easy to use as a starting point with other devices.

Presteign Sound Labs says:

“The goal is to fuse the immediacy of a standalone synth with the flexibility of a Eurorack module – and there’s no other environment that can support both to the degree that Reason does.

If you’re not familiar with the original hardware, some of Macro’s design decisions might seem strange at first. Where’s the filter? Where are the envelopes? Those are all packaged into Macro’s lowpass gate, a simple filter and VCA where the same release-stage or ASR envelope controls both. This may seem limiting at first, but you might be surprised at what you can do with it!

Of course, that’s only half the story. Just like in Eurorack, if you want more complex envelopes, filters, or other modulation or effects, all you have to do is add them! Between Pulsar’s LFO and envelope generator, Sweeper’s secret treasure trove of filters, and all the other tools in Reason’s toolbox, Macro is the perfect foundation on which to build a modular masterpiece.”

Macro is available now as a free download.
