Korg today announced that its Modwave wavetable synthesizer is now available.

Launched at NAMM 2021, the announcement of the Korg modwave promised a “monster synth” that boasts a powerful synthesis engine and some extensive modulation capabilities.

Based on Korg DW-8000, the modwave brings the legacy of that ‘80s cult favourite into the 21st century with the addition of Kaoss Physics and Motion Sequencing 2.0.

First impressions of the modwave are positive, with the advanced wavetable synthesis engine offering up some serious opportunity for variation – 200 wavetables each contain up to 64 waveforms, with the structure allowing for 30+ Modifiers to be used alongside 13 Morph Types for realtime processing.

Combined with the A/B Blend function, that means the modwave is capable of producing over 230 million wavetable variations, even before modulation. The addition of a Kaoss pad as a modulation source, alongside the wavestate Motion Sequencing 2.0, makes for some dazzling creative possibilities.

Korg Modwave Wavetable Synth is available now. Find out more on the Korg website.

Sinevibes’s Revelation Sound Library For Korg Prologue

Sinevibes has introduced  Revelation Sound Library For The Korg Prologue

Sinevibes developer Artemiy Pavlov is best known as a developer of audio effects for macOS, and of custom oscillators and effects for the Korg Prologue, Minilogue XD and NTS-1.

His latest release is Revelation, a sound library for Korg Prologue. Unlike his previous releases that extend the Prologue’s synth engine, Revelation is designed to showcase the potential of the synth’s built-in capabilities.

Here’s what he has to say about it:

Many months in the making, this sound pack only uses prologue’s standard synth engine, taking it to the maximum of its capabilities. Revelation delivers a wide range of highly polished presets: bass, lead, poly, keys, pads, motion sounds, combinations, and more. Every sound has been designed to be a joy to play – and immediately inspire new musical ideas. The pack contains a total of 110 presets.

Revelation is available now for $39. More audio demos are available at the Sinevibes site.

Cherry Audio PS-20 a Polyphonic, “Hot-Rodded” Korg MS-20 Synthesizer

Cherry Audio has introduced PS-20, a new software synthesizer. Cherry Audio PS-20 plugin is a “hot-rodded” VST version of Korg MS-20 Synthesizer. It promises everything you love about the MS-20 and plenty more.

If you are looking for a faithful hardware emulation of Korg MS-20, Korg has you covered with its mini and full-sized reboots, but if you want a “hot-rodded” plugin version, the PS-20 is the synth that will seduce you. As for sound-wise, the PS-20 sits on familiar, squelchy, screaming MS-20-style ground. Those much-loved, sometimes unpredictable filters are here, as is the modular-style patch panel. However, we are told that this has been reconfigured and simplified, with in and out patch points for all oscillators, filters and VCAs and a simplified interface. The patch panel cabling system from Cherry Audio Voltage Modular has been implemented, too. Other additions include 16 notes of polyphony, a three-layer, eight-step sequencer with CV outs, and built-in effects.

The PS-20 also features 320 presets, and offers MPE support. There’s a single-key chord memory mode, and an external signal processing section with sidechain input. It runs on PC and Mac as either an instrument or an effect, and in VST/AU/AAX formats.

*Features:

  • Accurate modeling of classic MS-style highpass and lowpass filters
  • Up to 16-voice polyphony with random voice panning available
  • Over 320 presets
  • Three-channel, eight-step sequencer with 1/2-step quantizer and tempo sync
  • Single-key chord memory mode
  • Expanded and simplified full-function patch panel
  • Advanced patch panel cabling system from Voltage Modular
  • External Signal Processor section with normalled sidechain input
  • Virtual instrument and effect plug-in versions included
  • Tempo-syncable modulation generator
  • Unison detune for massive lead and bass sounds
  • MPE support
  • Four user-selectable interface color themes
  • Distortion, studio-quality reverb, and mod echo with tempo sync effects
  • Full MIDI control and DAW automation for all controls
