Free Genesis Sound Library For Korg Wavestate Synthesizer

Synthesist and sound designer Ian Dixon has been on a tear recently, releasing a series of excellent free sound libraries Korg’s Wavestate and modWave synthesizers.

His latest free sound library is a Genesis Collection for the Korg Wavestate.

What Dixon has to say about it:

“Over the years, Tony Banks and Genesis have crafted iconic sounds featured in timeless tracks like Watcher of the Skies, Behind the Lines, Cinema Show, Invisible Touch, and Abacab. These legendary sounds came from iconic instruments such as the Mellotron, ARP Pro Soloist, ARP Quadra, Korg Wavestation, and Yamaha DX7.

Inspired by these classic Genesis sounds, this collection for the Korg Wavestate includes 36 meticulously crafted performances that span from Foxtrot to Calling All Stations. You’ll find Mellotron sounds, ARP Pro Soloist and Quadra, organs, DX7, and Wavestation patches to explore and relive that classic progressive rock vibe.”

The library is compatible with all versions of the Wavestate, including Korg Wavestate, Wavestate Native, Wavestate mkII, and Wavestate Rack.

Use Custom Samples with Korg Modwave & Wavestate Synthesizers

We have previously featured several of Ian Dixon’s videos, which showcase his great sound design work for the Korg modwave and wavestate synthesizers.

His latest video captures a livestream, recorded yesterday, that demonstrates how to use Korg’s Sample Builder to import WAV files, set up looping, and configure key zones. Then it looks at syncing samples to the synth and working with them in the synth engine.

The process works similarly for all versions of the synths, including mk1, mk2 and native versions.

Free Sound Library brings Vintage Analog String Sounds to Korg Wavestate

Sound designer and synthesist Ian Dixon has shared a free sound library for the Korg Wavestate synthesizer.

The Korg Wavestate is a powerful and flexible synthesizer, but is best known for creating digital wave sequence sounds, which feature prominently in the synth’s preset sounds.

Dixon’s sound library demonstrates that the Wavestate can also do classic analog sounds. The free collection features patches based on the classic sounds of Solina, Mellotron, Elka, Roland, and ARP keyboards. It includes iconic sounds of Pink Floyd (“Shine On You Crazy Diamond”), Vangelis, and others.

Vintage Analog Strings is compatible with the Korg Wavestate, Wavestate mkII, Wavestate Rack, and Wavestate Native.

In the video, Dixon demos each of the sounds, and also shares some of the sound design secrets of his patches.
