This Is Not Rocket Science Bigfish Modular Keyboard (Sneak Preview)

This is not Rocket Science shared this sneak preview of BigFish, a keyboard modular synthesizer.

It sounds like BigFish will build on the ‘hardware digital modular’ ideas of the Nord Modular and open platform elements of Korg’s Multi Engine instruments.

Here’s what they have to say about it:

“We envision 4 levels of making with this modular synthesizer: making music, making sound, making synth and making DSP. Meaning you can be building the blocks, arranging the blocks, tweaking the blocks and making the blocks go beep. You can also ignore any layers that you are not interested in and just have a good time with your BigFish.

1. Musicians – making music with BigFish as it is – playing with the many beautiful onboard sounds

2. Sound designers – making sounds with BigFish presets – tweaking the love

3. Synth designers – making new synthesizers modular style – onboard modular software synth

4. Programmers – making DSP to makes synths in BigFish – onboard and under the hood – math making music”

They say that it will also have a unique new keybed:

“Our BigFish plans needed a keybed with synth-sensibilities that do not exist anywhere and so we are building this keybed ourselves. We will also make this keybed available for other synth builders so the whole world can play with it. We are making this new Bink keybed together with Binkhorst Creations in our new Unit 11 factory and office space.”

TINRS is targeting a May 2027 release for the BigFish.
