Ableton Extensions SDK Adds ‘Experimental Playground’ To Live Suite

Today, Ableton has introduced the Extensions SDK, described as “an experimental playground inside Live Suite”.

The Extensions Software Development Kit (SDK), now in public beta, is an open JavaScript toolkit that lets you create custom tools that expand what you can do in Live Suite.

Extensions are optional add-ons that run alongside Live and can be accessed with a right-click from anywhere in your Set. They can read and edit the structure of your Set – including tracks, clips, parameters, automation and more. Using the Extensions SDK, you can create tools that analyze, visualize, and reorganize your Live projects, automate repetitive parts of your process, connect Live to entirely new services and more.

The SDK is based on JavaScript, so it’s designed to be easy to get started, especially for people with previous experience with Web development.

Anyone can create Extensions under the Ableton SDK license. Live 12 Suite users can join the beta program and download the Live 12.4.5 beta to get started. See the intro video, embedded above, for a overview of developing your first Extension.

The Ableton Extensions SDK is available now as a free download.

Nozoïd Kagouyar Synthesizer Updated With Deeper Synthesis Options, More Affordable Pricing

Developer Cyrille Henry shared news about important updates for the Nozoïd Kagouyar, a semi-modular polyphonic virtual analogue synthesizer..

Not only has the Kagouyar firmware received a major update, adding deeper synthesis options, but the price has been reduced to €849.

Here’s what’s new in Kagouyar version 2.0:

  • 2× more VCO waveforms (via long click on waveform)
  • 2× more LFO waveforms (via long click on waveform)
  • 2× more audio effects (via long click on effect)
  • Added A/D mode (selectable in place of the A/R envelope generator)
  • Added DJ mode to the VCF2 filter (low/high on the same potentiometer)
  • Added very slow mode for LFO 4, 5 and 6 (up to more than 2.5h period)
  • Changed LFO SYNC modulation: frequency division now depends on LFO Fq range, division or multiplication goes from /128 to ×128
  • Changed automodulation in LFO SYNC: modulation potentiometer allows dividing or multiplying LFO frequency by factors 1, 2, 3, 4, 8
  • New LFO CLIP modulation functionality when no modulation is set: LFO waveform is clipped in various steps (like a bitcrusher)
  • When “LOAD” switch is pressed, potentiometers are no longer updated to allow cut transitions
  • Added option to use CV switch to control keyboard octave (LOAD + SAVE + KB13
  • MIDI note velocity now controls note amplitude

The Kagouyar is available now, priced at €849.
