Loop Create coming on Oct 29th and is Free

Loop Create is free, it is awesome and it is coming on Oct 29th

Ableton has announced the full schedule for their Oct 29th Loop Create – a free international event that offers a full day of sessions for music makers.

You do not need to be an Ableton Live user to participate – the event focuses on topics that apply to all musicians – but you do need to register.

This year’s event is focusing on collaboration, and promises to explore new options that are now available.

To kick off the day’s theme of collective creation, Hildur Guðnadóttir and Sam Slater will talk through their approach to collaboration, in a keynote interview moderated by Craig Schuftan. Then, you will get a chance to join fellow attendees in the Loop Cafe, a virtual hangout space for chatting and sharing ideas.

Next, you can join a workshop with Maya Shenfeld, where you can exchange text scores and try out new processes for making music with the help of Dennis DeSantis. Once that’s wrapped up, Gafacci and Juba will open the virtual floor for questions and comments about working with others in the studio.

After another social breather in the Loop Cafe, it’s time for the music-making challenge with Aquarian and Mustelide – just bring your wildest ideas to help them move forward with their unfinished tracks in a session moderated by Afriqua.

Loop Create starts at 4pm (Berlin/UTC+2) and runs until 10:30pm on October 29, 2022. Find out more on the Ableton website.

GPU Audio Modulation Bundle Now available as a Beta Release, with Mac Support Coming in November

GPU Audio – a startup has announced a free beta version of its Modulation Bundle – featuring a Chorus, a Flanger and a Phaser.

Chorus, flanger and phaser effects with a difference…

The launch of a new collection of chorus, flanger and phaser plugins might not sound like too much to get excited about, but GPU Audio’s Modulation Bundle is a little different in that all the effects are powered by your computer’s graphics card.

The company’s GPU-powered platform was launched at this year’s NAMM Show,  with the first evidence of its capabilities being an early-access convolution reverb. The Modulation Bundle is the next step; the first in a new ‘beta-suite’ of plugins, it uses GPU Audio’s patented technology to harness the parallel processing power of your computer’s graphics and gaming system, taking the pressure and workloads off your CPU.

The Modulation Bundle is available initially for Windows machines with NVIDIA GPUs only, but AMD support and AAX formats coming soon. GPU Audio says that it’s working closely with Apple and that it hopes to roll out macOS support in November.

Looking ahead, the plan is to incrementally update the Modulation Bundle with new features, and spatial, frequency correction, distortion and dynamics plugins are on the way. GPU Audio will also be releasing an SDK for third-party developers, and claims to have “multiple contracts” signed. The first third-party plugin is expected to be released in conjunction with spatial audio specialist Mach1.

The free beta version of the Modulation Bundle can be downloaded now from the GPU Audio website.

Spectral Plugins Spacer Effect uses delay and reverb to deliver new sonic expanses

You’ve got delays and you’ve got reverbs, but Spectral Plugins says that its new Spacer effect “is like no delay you’ve ever heard, and no reverb you’ve ever dreamt of. All together.”

This supposed marriage made in plugin heaven promises five types of ‘spatial experience’. Or, to put it another way, it offers five reorderable modules: Reverb, Convolution, Grain Reverb, Delay and Grain Delay, plus a Utilities tab and a multi-voice Chorus.

Each module also contains a two-band EQ plus Mix and Gain controls, while Spacer’s granular engine – which includes pitchshifting technology – comes courtesy of Zynaptiq. The Convolution module comes with 110 impulse responses, or you can load your own.

Options in the Utilities tab include Saturation, Presence and Air controls, and an Age effect that introduces a vintage vibe.

Spacer is available now for the introductory price of $69, rising to $119 on 5 December. It runs on PC and Mac in VST/AU/AAX formats.
