The Bob Moog Foundation Celebrates 20th Anniversary
The Bob Moog Foundation is celebrating its 20th anniversary this month.
The milestone reflects the dedication of Executive Director Michelle Moog-Koussa, the work of the organization’s board, and the contributions of supporters over the years.
The Bob Moog Foundation is an independent 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organization, with the goal of preserving the legacy of synth pioneer Dr Robert Moog.
The odds are against new non-profit organizations, with many failing in their first few years because of the challenges of building sources of income.
Under the leadership of Moog-Koussa, though, The Bob Moog Foundation has beaten the odds, lasting two decades, and achieving success with its three key projects:
- Bob’s SoundSchool is a 10-week STEAM-style curriculum that teaches second graders about the science of sound through music and technology. Over 30,000 students have been served to date.
- The Bob Moog Foundation Archives is a collection of 15,000 pieces of historical material that the Foundation protects and preserves. Recent additions to the archive include nearly 5,000 items from Moog Music/InMusic; a rare Model 351 Tube Theremin; Bob Moog’s unique Rensitron keyboard; Gary Wright’s Moog Liberation keytar; and more.
- The Moogseum is unique museum that shares Bob Moog’s legacy and the history of electronic music. The Moogseum has welcomed over 50,000 visitors, since opening in May of 2019.
