Sunday Synth Jam: Synthesist Pasquale Lello (Lo-fi Pask) shared this ambient synth jam, recorded on a Teenage Engineering OP-XY while waiting at the airport:
Here’s what shared about the technical details:
“It’s incredible how easily ideas take shape with Teenage Engineering OP-XY. Last night, while working on another project, this ‘ambient’ experiment was born. I used all factory presets, except for the airport background noise. It was recorded with the Teenage Engineering TX-6, which added extra reverb and some other effects.
The Electro-Classic Orchestra shared the video for Beethoven Five!, their take on Walter Murphy’s 1976 classic, A Fifth Of Beethoven.
Some might think that Murphy’s A Fifth Of Beethoven epitomizes everything cheesy about the ’70s – including disco, pop covers of classical music and late-stage Moogsploitation.
The members of the Electro-Classic Orchestra only know better, though, and their version of A Fifth Of Beethoven might just make you see the disco hit in a new light:
The Electro-Classic Orchestra version has it all – ‘Moogsploitation’ style synth sounds, propulsive drums, a great arrangement, and even awesome staches.
If you like what you hear, make sure you check out their album Bach ReWired on Amazon, a new collection of ‘switched on’ synth arrangements.
The latest video from The Unperson takes a deep look at classic Eurorack modular combo of patching the Mutable Instruments Rings module into the Mutable Instruments Clouds.
Rings is a resonator module, with some interesting tricks. Most notably, the resonator is ‘pingable’, is capable of physical modelling, and can be used as a polyphonic synth voice. Clouds module is a granular audio processor and texture synthesizer.
Both modules have been hugely popular with synthesists, because they introduced new capabilities to Eurorack. And, in combination, they make it possible for synthesists to create huge, spacious sounds using a minimal system:
The video discusses the Rings into Clouds combo, offers plenty of musical examples, and highlights why the two modules are still some of the most popular in Eurorack.
