Audio Hertz VHS Home Video Flavor Box is a plugin that’s designed to recreate the the sonic fingerprint of VHS playback.
The plugin is modeled on two consumer VCRs, each with its own personality and sonic character:
1979 JVC Vidstar HR-7600U — One of the earliest home VCRs ever made. Heavy, noisy, and built like a tank. When driven, it delivers smooth distortion with a unique bass boost.
2001 Panasonic PV-V4521 — Driven hard, it produces an extremely flavorful, gritty overdrive.
The result is a plugin that brings you back to the “beautifully nostalgic, imperfect world of analog home video.”
Features:
VCR Saturation – The developers say that they pushed the inputs of consumer VCRs, to capture the unique distortion they produce when overloaded.
Schlappi Engineering let us know that they’ve introduced a new Euro module, Boundary Layer, that they describe as “a powerhouse of modulation, audio mayhem, and obscure modular tricks.”
Each of Boundary Layer’s channels can act individually as:
A modulation oscillator
Voltage controlled slew (including portamento)
AR/AD envelope (decay or release determined by choice of input).
All three channels are tied together by three global inputs, as well as three outputs which select the MAX, MID, and MIN of all three voltages. Using different combinations at audio rate allows for patch programmable stereo drone synth capabilities.
Features:
3 separate channels
3 global inputs
3 combined outputs MAX/MID/MIN
Oscillates from low LFO rate (a minute?) to audio rate (>10kHz with exponential feedback)
A CV input switchable between RISE/FALL/BOTH
Bound input for simultaneous control over cycling rate and amplitude
TRIG input for AD envelopes
SLEW input for AR envelopes and portamento or filtering
WMD has announced that they are returning the Metron 16-channel trigger & gate sequencer to production, and that development, support, and production of the Metron sequencing ecosystem will all be continuing.
Metron is one of the most powerful and advanced trigger sequencers on the Eurorack market. It’s expanders, Voltera and Axxent, add even more hands-on control, with more gate outputs and voltage lanes that can be used to control parameters, pitch, and much more.
A new production run is currently underway and pre-orders for this run are now open. This new run will come loaded with the updated firmware v1.6, which is also available to current Metron users.
A demo of Metron in action:
Features:
16 Channels of trigger and gate signals
Intuitive drum sequencer
View 4 channels at a time and easily switch views
Single track view lets you zoom in on a single track and see 64 steps at a time
Up to 256 step pattern length
Expandable with Voltera and Axxent
Different pattern lengths per channel
Five instantly recallable, editable variations
View and edit variations that are not playing for easy cue and non stop performance play
Save patterns to SD memory for easy recall on power cycle
Load from memory without stopping
Easy view variation previews lets you see a pattern before loading
FX / Fills for instant / momentary variation
2 assignable inputs for external CV control
Tap in patterns with quantized recording with the buttons or external source
Quick copy / paste / clear functions
Internal clock with Swing
Dedicated reset output
MIDI Preset mode lets you send MIDI messages to other modules on the Doepfer CV bus. (for use with
WMD SSM, Malekko Voltage Block, and more)
Random Pattern Generation
Probability per step and group probability functions
Burst per step for ratchet / roll sounds
Custom Fill Patterns for instant fills
