Superbooth 2021: Expressive-E was showing Osmose for the first time

It has been two years since Expressive E revealed the Osmose instrument reporting to have the most advanced sound engine for expressivity. It comes with Haken Audio’s unique EaganMatrix sound engine covering everything from virtual analog to FM synthesis and physical modelling. Each key can deliver 3 dimensions of control with polyphonic pressure, aftertouch and pitch control. What makes the Osmose unique, though, is that it implements high-resolution per-note expressive control with piano keys. This makes it easy for experienced players to adapt to, building on their existing technique.

This demo focuses primarily on the performance capabilities of the Osmose keyboard, including discrete control over attack and dynamics, polyphonic aftertouch, vibrato, glide and more.

The Expressive E Osmose is currently under development and is expected to be available by the end of 2021, priced at €1799.

The M²Synth – All New Analog Modular Synthesizer from Soundtronics

Soundtronics has  announced M²Synth, a new modular synthesizer, using a new variant of 5U.

“Over the past year we’ve have developed an all new analog modular synth,” they note. “For now, here’s a sneak peek of the M²Synth, stay tuned for more details coming soon.”

The M²Synth is housed in an all-metal enclosure, with cases designed to be expandable in units of 10 spaces.

The module panel sizes are the same as Soundtronics’ earlier MFOS & YuSynth panels, but with slightly different mounting hole pitch to fit their new standard mounting rail design.

The depth of the modules is much less than the MFOS and YuSynth designs, so they say it should not be much of a problem to mount these modules in other cabinets.

Details are still to come at the Soundtronics website.

Superbooth 2021: Sneak Preview of JOMOX MOD FM Analog + Digital Modular FM Synthesizer

At Superbooth 2021, Jürgen Michaelis of Jomox is introducing the MOD FM, a modular analog/digital hybrid synthesizer with 4-operator FM tone generation.

Features:

  • 8-voice polyphony Euro format synthesizer
  • Digital oscillators with analog SSM filters
  • 2 LFOs per voice, which can also be used as VCOs, for six oscillators per voice total
  • Versatile internal modulation matrix plus external CV control
  • Four CV inputs control the FM components and 4 CV inputs control the pitch envelopes of each operator.
  • Eight audio outputs
