Long-awaited Korg MS-20 FS lands

Korg MS-20 FS Monophonic Analog Synthesizer, 2 Oscillators, 37 Mini-Keys

Korg today announced that the MS-20 FS (full-size) Monophonic Synthesizer is now available.

This is the long-awaited 1:1 scale reissue of the legendary MS-20, reborn in four limited-edition green, white, blue and black colors.

The original MS-20 is a classic semi-modular monosynth, prized for its distinctive, aggressive-sounding filters and external audio processing capabilities. The MS-20 was originally revived by Korg in 2013, in the form of the three quarter-sized MS-20 mini, and while two full-sized versions did follow – in full and desktop module forms – both were released as DIY kits produced in limited numbers.

During NAMN 2020, Korg had announced another production run of the full-sized MS-20, and this time in pre-built, rather than kit format. And what is more there are four limited-edition colors variations to choose from, each of which Korg says will be produced in limited numbers.

Now, it is finally shipping.

The full-sized 37-note keyboard design remains the same as the original including two filter types, except for the addition of MIDI and USB MIDI control.

All four KORG MS-20 FS models are now available with U.S. MAP pricing of $1399.99.

Free Launchkey MK3 Update Adds layers to your creative expression

Novation has introduced a free firmware update for the Launchkey MK3 and Launchkey Mini MK3 that adds a new Strum Mode and more.

Novation also says the update is also a response to public feedback “to increase creativity in your music making sessions”.

In addition to Strum Mode, the v1.1 update also includes some user-requested options:

  1. Pad brightness will now be adjustable for more comfortable visibility in all lighting conditions.
  2. Launchkey Mini MK3 owners will now be able to switch pad velocity on or off. Depending on your preference, you’ll have greater control over your playing and be able personalize your user experience –especially helpful for finger drummers who prefer to have a fixed velocity
  3. Clock output from the MIDI port can now be toggled on or off. This increases flexibility for users when connecting Launchkey Mini MK3 to other MIDI devices.
  4. Lastly, the shift, arp and fixed chord buttons can now be latched with double-tap. This enables handed control of shift-modified buttons — perfect for tweaking with one hand while playing with the other, or when simultaneously playing guitar or using a connected synth.

Nord Piano 5

Clavia has announced the Nord Piano 5, a new version of its pianist-centric stage keyboard.

Nord Piano 5 offers dual piano and synth engines, and double the sample storage.

Nord Piano 5 looks the same as its predecessor – it is red color but, some notable tweaks have been made including dual independent piano and synth layers, which can be used in a variety of split and layer configurations, and twice the sample memory for both the piano and synth sections.

The Nord Piano 5 Effect section includes Tremolo, Phaser, Chorus, Pan, Wah, RM, Flanger, Vibe, EQ, Delay and Reverb. A couple of tweaks have been made to the effects section, too, and the synth gets a Unison mode for ensemble-style sounds.

In addition, Nord Piano 5 also comes in a new 73-note model with triple sensor keyboard and grand weighted action. This joins the 88-note version, which includes a keyboard of the same specifications.

The Nord Piano 5 will be available in the spring and price at $2,999. Find out more on Nord Keyboards website.
