Sound designer Anton Anru shared this video demo of Modular Grooves, a collection of 50 patches + patterns for the Behringer Edge synthesizer.
The collection features 17 Percs/Drums, 16 Basses, 17 Synths. Anru says that the collection is “dedicated to the modular vibe”. In addition to offering a preview of the sound library, the video showcases the sonic range of the Behringer Edge.
*Note: The soundset is presented in PDF format, because the Behringer Edge does not have presets. Each page contains notes that explain how the patch works, what parameters are worth tweaking during playback, and how to develop the timbre during a performance.
Oversynth.com let us know that it now has front panel overlay kits available for both the Behringer Edge and Crave synthesizers, two of the instruments in their Moog knockoff trilogy.
The overlays address one of the most common criticisms of the Edge and Crave – the color and design of their front panels. The available designs range from classic black and white labeling, above, to various color-coded options. All designs use high-contrast graphics and large fonts, where possible, for easier viewing in low light.
Each kit comes with a front panel overlay, custom-cut black vinyl strips for masking out the front and back edges of the synth, as well as a sticker showing dip-switch settings for the synth’s MIDI channel.
The latest XNB video offers a complete overview of the Behringer Edge, a knockoff of the Moog DFAM drum synthesizer.
Like Behringer’s Crave synth, the Edge copies a popular Moog Eurorack format synth as an inexpensive desktop module. Like its inspiration, the Edge features dual VCO’s with pulse and triangle waves, oscillator sync and FM, to let you create a variety of percussive sounds. It also copies the DFAM’s dual-row 8-step sequencer, so you can control two aspects of the drum synth’s voice on each step.
As always, XNB’s video is not intended to be a review, but a deep guide into the synth and its capabilities.
