Behringer Introduces BQ-10 Step Sequencer

Today, Behringer officially introduced the BQ-10, a new step sequencer that is inspired in part by the classic Korg SQ-10.

The Behringer BQ-10 expands on the original in some important ways, including MIDI Out and supporting standard Euro CV levels.

Features:

  • Single 16-step or double 8-step sequences
  • Separate 8-step channel for controlling filter or amplitude on a connected synthesizer via CV
  • Dedicated trigger outputs per step
  • 8 separate play modes for channel A and B, including Alternating, Parallel, Series, Random and more
  • Each channel with its own Portamento control, for smoothing out the transition between steps
  • Duty cycle control for adjusting the overall gate length
  • Trigger input for syncing with external clocks
  • CV input for the internal clock, for creative rhythmic effects
  • 2 input sum for convenient patching
  • Eurorack compatible – main module can be transferred to a standard Eurorack case
  • 45 controls give you real-time access to all important parameters
  • MIDI support

The Behringer BQ-10 Step Sequencer is priced at $149 and should be available soon from retailers.

SynthR10 Analog Synthesizer Hands-On Demo

Synthesist KurtzMindfields shared this demo of the new SynthR10 analog synthesizer.

The analog synthesizer hand-assembled in France, each piece is unique and of exceptional quality.

The SynthR10 is a new 10-voice polyphonic analog synthesizer.  Each audio channel consists of two voltage-controlled oscillators (VCOs) using SSI2130 circuits, with cross-modulation allowing interaction between the two VCOs. A sub-oscillator completes this section to enrich the spectrum in the low frequencies.

The signal then passes through two filters: a low-pass filter based on an SSI2140, and a multimode filter using an AS3320, offering great flexibility in sound processing.

The stereo output is routed to a dedicated board incorporating two effects circuits. The audio chain is purely analog apart from the LFOs, envelopes, and effects, and is controlled by control voltages.

Features:

  • 10-voice polyphony,
  • Split with 5 voices per editable zone,
  • Layer with 5 voices,
  • Unison from 1 to 10 voices,
  • 5-voice arpeggiator in split mode,
  • 5-voice polyphonic sequencer in split mode
  • Looper: MIDI event recorder including notes and controls.

The SynthR10 Analog Synthesizer is available now for €3990.

Bradshaw Instruments Drumkid Eurorack Aleatoric Drum Machine

Bradshaw Instruments has introduced Drumkid Eurorack Aleatoric Drum Machine for Eurorack systems.

At its core, Drumkid is a four-voice drum machine with a built-in step sequencer, enabling normal drum pattern programming with both per-step and live recording for making patterns on the fly.

Where things get interesting is in Drumkid’s tools for introducing random variations into your rhythms, which they say are “perfect for anything from algorithmic fills to far-out audio rate freak outs.”

Features:

  • Chance adds more chance for adding or subtracting beats
  • Zoom changes metric resolution of random variations
  • Velocity changes volume of voices
  • Vel range changes range of possible velocities for dynamic variation
  • Magnet increases regularity of variations on chosen subdivision
  • Cluster adds more repeated hits on each random addition for ratcheting rhythms
  • Swing control with 8th note triplet to the left and 16th note triplets to right
  • Crop chops end of samples for a gated effect
  • Crush adds bitcrushing effect
  • Pitch changes sample pitches down to reverse playback
  • Drop rand increases randomized dropouts for ensemble variation
  • Drop all mutes voices down to just kicks to the left or just hi hats to the right, with full drop outs at both extremes
  • Supports tuplets for complex triplet / quintuplet /septuplet rhythms
  • Load .wav samples from SD card to make your own drum kits (SD card not included)
  • Independent trigger outputs for each voice
  • CV inputs for Chance, Zoom, Pitch, and Velocity
  • Clock in and out for external synchronization
  • Dual audio outputs

Drumkid is available now for $399.
