Novation’s Circuit Rhythm groovebox released earlier last year, puts its focus squarely on sample-based beatmaking, Thanks to a new firmware update (v2), it now promises to be a more expressive platform than ever before.
The new firmware adds several new features, starting with Beat Match. This enables Circuit Rhythm users to speed up or slow down samples at will, so drum breaks can be brought perfectly in time with their session.
Next, Fixed Length Recording – making it easy to record samples in time with the current project. You can toggle between lengths of eight, 16, 32 or 64 steps.Elsewhere, the built-in Grid FX are now editable, while patterns and muted track states can now be stored as part of Scenes for quick arrangement building.
New in Circuit Rhythm 2.0:
With the new Beat Match feature, Circuit Rhythm owners can speed their samples up or down to get drum breaks perfectly in time with their session.
Fixed Length Recording lets users record samples in perfect time with their current project.
A new toggle in the Sample Record View lets creators choose between a fixed length sample recording of 8, 16, 32, or 64 steps.
You can now create dynamic sonic performances and take control of grid FX parameters directly from Circuit Rhythm using editable Grid FX.
Patterns and muted track states can be saved to Scenes, to quickly build an arrangement.
A free plugin is on the way. Waves is teasing a free plugin but, How do we know is coming this Black Friday?
Black Friday is just a few weeks away, and that can mean only one thing. Well, it can mean lots of things, but one thing it definitely means is that, as has been the case every recent cyber weekend, Waves has a free plugin on the way. But, Waves isn’t giving us any clues.
Previous Black Friday plugin freebies have been worth having, though: last year’s Lofi Space married saturated delay and two varieties of analogue-based and spring reverb, while 2020’s CLA EchoSphere, which was designed in collaboration with master mix engineer Chris Lord-Alge, combined his favourite slap delay and plate reverb.
If you want this year’s free Black Friday plugin, find out more on the Waves website now and do the sign up. It will be released on 25 November (Black Friday).
In addition, Waves have just launched their mega early bird Black Friday sale, with 30 plugins plus loads of bundles reduced. If you are looking to save money on Waves plugins right now heads on to Waves website.
Meaning – when the sub-bass kicks in, people want to dance more.
How the authors summarize their study:
“We tested whether non-auditory low-frequency stimulation would increase audience dancing by turning very-low frequency (VLF) speakers on and off during a live electronic music concert and measuring audience members’ movements using motion-capture. Movement increased when VLFs were present, and because the VLFs were below or near auditory thresholds (and a subsequent experiment suggested they were undetectable), we believe this represents an unconscious effect on behaviour, possibly via vestibular and/or tactile processing.”
Why does bass you can’t even hear make you want to dance?
The authors say that low frequency sound is processed via vibrotactile and vestibular pathways, in addition to auditory pathways. Stimulation of these non-auditory modalities in the context of music can increase ratings of groove, and modulate musical rhythm perception. They go on to add that “Anecdotal accounts describe intense physical and psychological effects of low frequencies, especially in electronic dance music, possibly reflecting effects on physiological arousal.”
