Pat Metheny & Lyle Mays’ September Fifteenth
Synthesist Marko Ettlich – in his latest RetroSound video – shares his take on September Fifteenth, by Pat Metheny (guitars) and Lyle Mays (keyboards).
The original comes from the classic Metheny/Mays album As Falls Wichita, So Falls Wichita Falls. The albums features gorgeous Oberheim synth pads and soloes by Mays, in addition to his expressive piano playing.
“My intention is not to create covers that sound exactly like the original,” notes Ettlich. “It’s more of an inspiration, with my sounds from the old synthesizers from the past and of course the great appreciation for the original performers and producers.”
