Electronic music journalist Stephen Fortner suffered a stroke last week and is recovering in the hospital
Longtime electronic music journalist and former Keyboard magazine editor Stephen Fortner suffered a stroke last week and is recovering in the hospital.
His wife Madalyn Tanner has organized a GoFundMe fundraiser to help support his recovery journey.
Here’s what Tanner shared:
“Stephen went in for open-heart surgery on May 7th, 2025. The surgery was successful until he was in the ICU, where it was discovered he had an ischemic stroke on the right side of his brain from a blood clot. It was unexpected, as the signs looked clear that he would make a full recovery.
I, Madalyn, his wife, have taken time off from work. Since I’m new at my job, I only have 40 hours of PTO to use. After that, I won’t have any income coming in. He has a long road to recovery, and I want to be by his side for all of it.
Any help would be appreciated.”
The project is about halfway to its funding goal. You can donate to help Fortner with his recovering, or just follow his progress, at the GoFundMe site.

At Superbooth 2025, Enjoy Electronics introduced the ELFO Enchanged Life Frequencies Oscillator – a new module that they say “transforms modulation into pure, unpredictable magic.”
The ELFO lets you draw and sculpt custom waveforms, generate sophisticated organic modulations and save settings for instant recall. Cycles can range from 10 Hz to one cycle every 60 minutes.
In addition, the Elfo features the “Magic Crystal function”, which they say opens a portal to an entirely new world of modulation. The Crystal intercepts, redirects, and transforms modulation paths according to its own “magical logic”.
The Crystal decides what, when, and how frequently to intervene.

Features:
- 4 Fully Customizable LFO’s
- Touch-Drawn Waveforms
- Random Waveforms Generator
- Complex Modulation Matrix
- Advanced CV-LFO – Interconnection
- Assignable Trigger Actions
- Sync Capabilities
- Magic Crystal Function
- Eurorack and Standalone Version
The ELFO is expected to be available in Sept. Pricing is to be announced.
