Free Serum 2 Mellotron Presets

Apatite has shared Magic Mellotron – a free collection of Serum 2 presets, inspired by one of the most iconic instruments ever made.

Here’s what they have to say about the collection:

“Years after transforming my first Mellotron sounds into Serum presets, I decided it was time to revisit this legendary instrument. This time with a twist.

Instead of simply imitating the original tones, I pushed Serum to its full potential, using all the features that make the synth so powerful today. The result?

Completely new sonic possibilities that still carry the unmistakable Mellotron charm.

Every preset in this pack is built from at least one audio sample or wavetable derived from authentic Mellotron recordings. This preserves the nostalgic character of the source while blending it with the flexibility and creative range of a cutting-edge wavetable synth.

It’s truly the best of both worlds.”

The collection contains 20 new Serum 2 presets.

Magic Mellotron is available now as a free download.

Free Plugin, Strum Plate, Lets You Play Any Software Synth Like An Omnichord

Gulf Coast Synthesis shared this quick demo of GCS Strum Plate, a plugin that lets you ‘strum’ notes to play your software instruments.

They note, “Instead of using the typical autochord style of an Omnichord and other products, you can hold a chord on a MIDI keyboard and intuitively strum across the gold plate or via the pitch wheel.”

GCS Strum Plate is available now as a free download.
