In his latest video, synthesist & composer Anthony Marinelli interviews synthesist Robert Margouleff, who pioneered bringing synthesis to popular music and helped create one of the most iconic synthesizers of all time and arguably the greatest synthesizer of its day, T.O.N.T.O. (The Original New Timbral Orchestra). With his partner Malcolm Cecil, Margouleff shaped the sound of the ’70s and ’80s, with albums like Zero Time; productions with Stevie Wonder, including Innervisions, Fulfillingness‘ First Finale, and Songs in the Key of Life; production of DEVO; and work with artists like Jeff Beck, Depeche Mode, Weather Report, Stephen Stills, the Doobie Brothers, Quincy Jones and others.

Make Noise and Alessandro Cortini introduce Bruxa Echoverb Signal Processor

Make Noise today announced Bruxa, a special release that will be available by pre-order only.

The Bruxa is a collaboration between Make Noise and Alessandro Cortini. They say that the module is inspired by Cortini’s music and sonic experimentation, and is a new evolution of Make Noise founder Tony Rolando and Cortini’s original prototype circuits, which eventually became the Strega’s Time/Filter Experiment.

The Bruxa is a multi-tap delay line, with over a dozen unique feedback paths and multiple filters within those feedback paths, aligned to allow for accumulation of noise, saturation and signal degradation.

While Strega is a complete synthesizer in a tabletop form factor, Bruxa is a Eurorack module, designed to be used as one part of a Eurorack modular synthesizer.

Features:

  • Echoverb signal processor which shares origins with Strega
  • Well tuned to work nicely in a Eurorack modular system
  • All analog dry signal path blended with digital/ analog hybrid signal processor
  • Analog CV inputs with wide range capable of audio rate modulation
  • Time control with massive, smoothly variable range
  • Linear FM input with attenuator allows for fluttering of Time
  • Absorb and Filter controls dramatically shape the echo tone and reflections
  • New unique CV outputs for use in self-patching or mutual patching with other modules
  • Pairs well with STO, MATHS, Prss Pnt, modDemix and more!

Bruxa is available to pre-order for $399 and is expected to ship in October 2024.
